Sulfur Handling
Sulfur Exports provided significant financial gains for Kuwait, enhancing the value of national hydrocarbon resources.
The Sulfur Handling Unit has been expanded to meet the anticipated increase in sulfur production. This involved the construction of new facilities & the upgrade of existing ones at Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery, significantly boosting production capacity.
The loading rates have been enhanced to accommodate larger vessels. The expansion included new sulfur storage tanks, solidification units, a sulfur granulation unit, a warehouse, and export facilities.
Project Objectives
-
Increase the liquid sulfur receiving capacity to 5,000 metric tons per day.
-
Enhance loading rates by 1,500 tons per day.
-
The new export berth accommodates large vessels up to 60,000 tons.
Environmental Significance
-
State-of-the-art technologies are employed to capture sulfur dust during manufacturing and transport, minimizing environmental impact.
-
Extracting and exporting sulfur from crude oil significantly reduces SOx emissions, benefiting the environment.
-
All Health, Safety, and Environmental measures are aligned with KEPA standards.
